Oakridge Estate
Oakridge Estate is a smart cellar door that not only looks like it belongs in some architectural magazine but also has a wonderful foodies restaurant and caters for families really well. Two large toy boxes filled with cricket bats, balls badminton racquets, bocce and a whole lot of other outdoor activities including a giant chess board will sure to entertain all members of your family.
Inside, the building is divided into two, with a glass corridor leading between the tasting room and the restaurant.
Oakridge is another winery that does not have all wines available for tasting but regularly changes the wines on the tasting list. I had a great host who guided me through the wines and she spoke a little on each of the wines she poured. I had an excellent Chardonnay as well as a Pinot Noir but it was the chance to try something different in a Pinot Meunier, which is typically only used in the production of Sparkling wine really spiked my interest. I was told that Oakridge is only one of a handful of wineries that produce this wine in Australia as a stand-alone red wine. It was wonderful!
A large produce section and a cellar with old vintages plus those wonderful views makes Oakridge Estate a great all-rounder.
