Rocca di Montegrossi Our Wines
Rocca di Montegrossi’s Chianti Classico is the estate’s flagship wine; it is a blend of about 90% Sangiovese, with Canaiolo and Colorino, and is produced every year. It ages mainly in large casks and barrels made with oak from Allier, for 12-14 months. It is unfiltered, and after bottling it ages another 6 months prior to release.

Monte Rosso Historic Vineyard Society
At the time the land was known as Monte Rosso (red earth), but the vineyard was originally called Mount Pisgah. First vines went into the ground in 1886 and some of the Zinfandel and Semillon vines that were planted then are still producing fruit today. Also in 1886, a three-story, gravity-feed winery was completed, and it was named Mount Peak.

The Monte Rosso Vineyard is perched in the Mayacamas Mountains, a thousand feet above the Sonoma Valley. Named for its iron-rich, red volcanic soils, Monte Rosso has produced grapes of unmistakable character for more than a century. Three generations of Martinis have made wine from this iconic vineyard and it continues to inspire our winemaking team on a deeply profound level.
